I define myself as an eclectic mix of visual neuroscience and computer science. I am more or less interested in the theoretical modeling of the two visual pathways. I ambitiously believe there is a systematic progression by which visual stimuli travel from input to output, and that these transitions are a function of how the human brain is able to encode this information.

Broadly speaking, my research investigates decision making, problem solving, and social influence processes within small groups. Recent projects include the effect of stereotype threat on group versus individual performance, and the effect of moral versus religious conviction on resistance versus susceptibility to majority influence. I am currently working on my dissertation which investigates the role of various group consensus processes on group performance and group member learning.

My utmost concern lies on the urban children/adolescents in poverty. The superkids' stories always fascinate me because I consider any inner-city kid as its candidate. Nowadays I'm trying to conceptualize issues surrounding them in terms of "culture". And I believe more contextual and natural that are approached systematically though can make a huge difference, which draws my attention also to the social policy issues.

Broadly speaking, I am interested in people's attitudes and beliefs about the world around them. More specifically, my research interests fall into two categories. First, I am interested political psychology, specifically political ideology. Currently, I am researching the manner in which conservatives and liberals make causal attributions, i.e. how they assign blame for social problems. In the future, I hope to examine the nature and structure of ideologies (political and otherwise). Second, I am interested in people's moral beliefs. Currently, I am developing projects exploring the many ways that moral beliefs differ from otherwise strong but non-moral beliefs. Of course, I am particularly interested in the intersection of ideology and morality.

I am interested in psychology and the law, particularly as it relates to children. I am currently investigating jurors' perceptions of mentally retarded juvenile defendants, and confessions offered by such defendants. More specifically, I am using attribution theory to explain jurors' judgments in cases involving these vulnerable defendants. I am also studying individual differences in repressive personality, fantasy-proneness, and dissociation as they relate to women's suspected and recovered memories of childhood sexual or physical abuse. Finally, I am also studying adult sexual assault victims' experiences with disclosure. Specifically, I am exploring victims' experiences of PTSD and problem drinking as they relate to social reactions received from people that victims disclose to.

I am a PhD candidate in Social Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), working with Professor Bette Bottoms. I am broadly interested in psychological perspectives on public policies and laws relevant to disadvantaged groups, particularly children, and victims of violence and maltreatment. My specific interests within the child welfare field fall into three general categories: *Legal and social structures and relationships that bind families, victims, investigators, and social service personnel involved in child maltreatment investigations; *Developmental, emotional, and neurological precursors to and sequelae of abusive experiences; *Perceptions of victims and perpetrators of child maltreatment. I am als0 interested in the application of advanced designs (e.g., longitudinal designs) and statistical techniques (e.g., structural equation models, multilevel models) to answer questions about these complex, dynamic processes.
