Emotion and physiology research lab
Director: Stewart Shankman, Ph.D.

Our lab examines several neurobehavioral processes that relate to emotions. We're also interested in whether these emotional processes relate to different psychopathologies (such as depressive and anxiety disorders) and various personality constructs.

The Affective Science and Physiology Laboratory
Director: Stewart Shankman, Ph.D.

The Affective Science and Physiology Laboratory is a research lab based in the psychology department at the University of Illinois-Chicago. We use a multi-method approach to explore the relation between mood and anxiety disorders, the nature and course of depression, and more basic questions in affective science. To this end, our research program attempts to bridge and integrate clinical and epidemiological approaches with neuroscience and psychophysiological methods.


Violence Against Women Prevention Research Lab
Director: Schewe, Paul A

Primarily conducts outcome evaluation research to assist agencies interested in further developing or improving their violence prevention programs. Currently assisting Chicago Safe Start and Sitka Safe Start in developing training, identification, referral, and service programs for young children exposed to domesitc violence, and evaluating the effectiveness of Multisystemic Therapy for juvenile sex offenders.
